Medical equipment beeped systematically with the rythm
of Quin's breathing and heartbeat, in the LA
hospital's intensive
care unit..
Steven: How is she doing, Sum?
Dr.Lee(Meng Sum): Not great.She suffered a mild
concussion and i am sorry to say that the baby's
gone.We've tried our
best.Try to inform her family members to come over to
comfort her as this is the best we can do now.
Steven: Ok..i'll see what i can do

Over in Hongkong......
Kit: What?!! But i need at least three days notice
before any leave can be approved and dad and auntie
are not around.
Steven: Well..isn't there any way to contact them,it's
really important that family members are around.
Kit: Ermm..i haven heard from them for weeks!i guess i
have to seek the last resort...
"Ring..ring..!!"
Chisan: Wai..Kong Chisan speaking
Kit:Kong Sir!Is Fei gor around?
Chisan: No, he's out investigating a case and won't be
back so soon. You want to leave him a message?
Kit: Sis got into an accident in La and her...her
baby's gone. I don't know if i should tell Fei
gor..coz i'm sure sis will blame
me
Chisan: Fei has the right to know this,at least at
this point of time..i'll see what i can do..(hangs up
and comtemplates for a
long moment before dialling Fei's number..)
Fei:wai, Kong Sir,what's up?new leads?
Chisan:There's something i need to tell you,but you
must promise me to remain calm.
Fei:....
Chisan:Quin met with an accident in LA and suffered a
miscarriage. I don't think i need to further
elaborate..
Fei:...(stunned.hangs up the phone)

Scene:At Fei's house
Chinchin: Hey!what a surprise!you are back early..i am
rehearsing for the Handicapp Society's dance item,come
and
watch.I've rehearsed it the whole day and..(noticing
Fei nowhere to be seen) Fei!!I am talking to
you...what are you doing in
the room??
Fei:(emerges from the room with a suitcase and
passport) there is something i need to do for a couple
of days.I've paid for
the bills and here's some money in case if anything
crops up.
Chinchin:Where are you going?my dance performance is
tomorrow and you promised to come..
Fei:I really have to go...(walks out of the house)

The flight to La ia a long and unhappy one, one filled
with dozens of bitter and sweet memories for Fei..
Scene:At the LA hospital, Fei rushes up to the
intensive Care Unit,Steven is inside accompanying
Quin.Fei ignores him
and goes to Quin's bedside.

Fei: Kwan?Kwan?i'm here...Kwan?
Steven: She woke up earlier but was unable to control
her greive, the doctor gave her some sedative.
Fei:....(silence)
Steven: I am Quin's cousin..Steven Lum and you are...?
Fei: i..er..i.am.....her close friend (saying with
much difficulty)
Steven:(noticing his sad expression) i shan't disturb
you anymore..gotta get back to my clinic..here's my
card..call me if
you need anything..
