Preview of Last chapter: Fei confronted Quin about Sum Oiy being his
daughter. Quin denied it and angryly walks away. Chi San builts feeling for
May and Nam wouldn't give up on Quin. Quin has been getting nightmares very
often. May knows something about Quin that no one know. Chin Chin finally
got into her senses and came back to HK. A ball is going to be held on
Friday and Nam is going with Quin and Chi San going with May.
Chapter 14
Same week, Thursday.... at Quin's apt.....
Quin [sitting at the couch]: You know what, I have been thinking lately.
Did I agreed to go with Nam because I wanted to or.... how should I put
it...out of pity?
May [cooking dinner at the kitchen]: Hey, I didn't understood why you said
Yes, so quickly in the first place. It isn't you! I was going to make you
go if you didn't but surprisingly you did!
Man [coming out of her room]: That's not good. You should tell him
straight, even for the millionth time you did already!
May: But it's hard to find this kind of man alive these days you know!!!
Quin: Yes, I know. He's everything a woman wants but just not want I want.
May: Yeah, it's that chocolate walking stick again, isn't it?
Man: Ding ding ding ding ding!!!
Quin: Oh, stop it. You guys are not helping one bit.
May: I don't see one bit of deservingness for this guy to have you feeling
like this for him. He won't know how you feel!
Man: You got a point.
Quin: Ok, Ok! Stop with the attacks. I'm not even bringing him up but you
[looks at May], it's you!
Man: Well, she also has a point.
May: Ok, sorry! But I'm just thinking like you. And I'm sure I'm right!
Man: Oh, forget it. Don't push her against wall. As long as you know that
the person you love is happy, it doesn't matter if he is by your side or not.
May: OK, I'll stop. No need start saying these things with me.
Quin: But I see someone else has a problem. [Quin and May looks at Man]
Don't worry. I'm not going to use what May tried on me. [May made a look to
Quin] All I will say is, I totally agree with you.
Man: Thanks Quin!
May: Ok, now you guys are going to leave me out!
Quin: Hey, it is you that don't want to bring up your problems. We're just
respecting you!
May: Ok, I'll shush!
Next day after work.....
Quin [on her cell, outside of the station]: Hello, Nam?! Yes, this is
Quin. Are you busy now? [hesistating] I want to know if we can go out for
dinner?
Nam [in his room]: Sure, I'll love to. (wait, this is unusual)
Quin: Get ready and come right down. I'm in front of the station now.
Nam: Ok, be right there!
In front of a restaurant.....
Nam: So, we are eating here?
Quin: Yes, is there a problem?
Nam: No, lets go in. [while Nam is walking to a table] (Ok, somehow I
don't feel right about this. Wait I remember, this is not good) [Quin and
Nam are sitted at a table] Before you say a word, is this what I'm thinking
it is?
Quin: Ohh yeah!
Nam: Darn.
Quin: But how did you know so fast?
Nam: Com'on, what is this, the hundredth time we been through this. I'm
just surprise you can't think of a better place to go other than a restaurant.
Quin [mumbling] I don't know.
Nam: I'm guessing you won't expect me to do anything cause we are at the
public!
Quin: Well.... yeah!
Nam: Ah ha! I finally figured out what all these restaurants have in
common!
Quin: Oh, acting brillant now! It doesn't make any differences but I'll
give you a shot!
Nam: We always end up in a restaurant near a hospital! Ok, so is there any
specfic meaning to this?
Quin: Ah no!
Nam: Lying with you eyes open again! I heard your little story before
around the station! And I mean a very detailed version, true or not true!
Quin: So, what are you trying to say?
Nam: You know it, it's better that I not say it. Ok, I'll stop the
noisyness. Let's continue on with our unfinish business.
Quin: What were we talking about?
Nam: [made a stare] You were going to tell me to leave you along again,
remember?
Quin: Oh yeah!
Nam: But make it less painful this time!
Quin: Oh, then I should start with the basic stuff right, like you are a
very good person, you.... oh please. If you know my intentions, what's the
point of this anyway?! And why for the many times I have told you that I
can't accept you, you continue to do this over and over. I'm sure you and
especially me, am sick of this game.
Nam: Ouch! But when you like someone, you can't give up you know!
Quin: Com'on, I'm not that good. Ok, who am I kidding, I'm one of a kind!
Nam: [smiles] You see. But I know when to stop. I can tell, you have a
buried past, you won't let go.
Quin: [Ignoring that specific statement] I'm glad you finally got into your
senses!
Nam: Ok, but I would like you to know that I will always treat you as my
little sister no matter what.
Quin: Yes, I know! And I'm thanking you for it.
Nam: Than that means, I have to find another partner.
Quin: No, that's if you want to ditch your sister! [they spend the evening
together]
Quin just returned home....
May: Oh, you're finally back!
Quin [sat on the sofa]: Yes and I feel great now.
Man: Oh so you told that poor guy?
Quin: Yes
May: So soon?
Quin: But this time I sense he really understands.
May: Hopefully he won't commit suicide!
Man: Oh don't scared her like that! Would he?
Quin [throws the cushions at them]: It's not going to work!
May: Ok, I'm glad he understands, it's better he knows anyway.
Man: So, what did he say this time?
Quin: Well, of course out of experience he knew it was that time of the
year again. Didn't say much, acting really normal.
[Man and May looking at Quin for more]
Quin: Ok, he joked it off.
May: So, you're trying to tell me he understands?
Quin: Yes, he does. Just taking it better this time. He said, he'll alway
treat me as his little sister.... again!
Man: O-oh! Usually when guys say that, it's not good.
Quin: What? what do you mean?
Man: They say that because if he treated you as a younger sister and he's
the bigger brother, he can still have an excuse to know about your business,
to order, scold you. That means in the outside he say he's your brother but
inside he doesn't want you to be with someone else!
May: Hey, it sounds right!
Quin: Where did you get that from?
Man: It's from this magazine. [holding it up] I left it at you're desk for
weeks and you didn't even touch it! It's in that article called, "The real
meaning of Men's words"! Told you it'll suit your situation. Besides, I've
learned from experience. My god-brother, Ah Ho, is always checking up on me.
Quin: I don't believe this crap.....[paused for a while and then suddenly
grab the magazine from Man's hands and ran to her room]
Man and May [laughing]: I thought you didn't believed it!!! {yau wah um
suon} [and threw the cushions at Quin]
In the middle of the night......
Quin: AHHHHHH!!!! [Man and May rushes in]
Man: Are you ok? It's happening again!
May: The hand again?
Quin [breathing hard]]: Yes, I know this is a bad sign. I believe there's
such thing. Been through it. Something bad must be up.
May: Just don't think of it that much.
Quin: It's doesn't seem to be under my control. I still don't get it. What
is with this hand? Who's hand is it? Why? Why?
May and Man: Calm down, calm down!
May: Easy.....don't let it get to you.
Quin: Ok, I know. [signs] But this time, I saw the man. Who is this man?
May (oh no, you can't remember): What man? Is it anyone you know?
Quin: No, I don't remember anyone that looks simliar to him. I only saw
the shape of his body and his hand with a scar, I don't even know what's
happening. In my dream and in me.
Man: It's alright. It'll go anyway.
Quin: Hopefully.
Friday.... the day of the ball.....
Gigi: Hey, how come Ms. Mo and Law Sir hasn't arrived yet?
Korean: And San gor and May?
Sue: Well, all 4 are coming together, it takes time.
Chin Chin: Fei, I didn't know Ms. Mo came back. You never told me.
Fei: Oh, I didn't. Well, it doesn't matter. She's coming here anyway.
Chin Chin: So she's with your head now?
Fei: I don't know.
Gigi: I would say Yes! They have been so close together.
[Fei showed uncomfortness hearing what they say]
Korean: Hey Ms. Mo and Law Sir. [staring and pointing]
[Suddenly Quin became the spotlight of the whole ball. Everyone turned
there eyes over her and kept saying how elegant and beautiful she is]
Fei [turned his head to see Quin and made a smiles]: Kwan, you are so
pretty tonight. [mumbled]
Chin Chin [looked at Fei and saw how he became attacted to Quin]: Fei, did
you say something?
Fei: Oh no! Nothing. [and turn his head to Quin again] [Chin Chin showed
alittle jealousy]
[May and Chi San came behind them] [May was also being complemented]
[The 4 finally came over to meet with the guys after they got pulled over by
other offices of higher level to chat.]
The 4 of them: Hi guys! Hi!
Nam: Sorry, were alittle late. [Fei and Quin made a quick glance at each
other]
Chi San: It's them [pointing at Quin and May]. We{meaning him and Nam} had
to wait like half an hour for them to finish! But it was worth it!
Gigi: Yeah, Ms. Mo and May, you guys are so pretty today.
Quin and May: Thanks!
Nam [saw people he knew]: Oh, I see my friends. [to Quin] Come with me and
I'll introduce you to them.
Quin: Sure, let's go.
[Fei watched Quin wraping her hand over Nam's arm. He felt really bad]
Fei(How I missed those days). [May and Chi San looked at each other, seeing
how Fei acted. Chin Chin saw it too] May: Please, excuse me! I have to go
to the bathroom.
Chin Chin: I'll go with you.
May: Ok, let me help. [they both headed to the restroom]
Nam and Quin came back....
Nam: Hey, so what have you guys been doing? Do you get to greet the Chief?
Korean: Yeah we did.
Quin: Wow, can't believe so many people came. Haven't came to these
occassions for a while.
Nam: Yes, glad you came. You need to relaxed anyway.
Gigi: Ms. Mo, anything wrong?
Quin: Thanks, it's nothing that important. [Quin suddenly felt
uncomfortable. She sense someone coming near her which made her felt bad]
Fei: Kwan, are you ok?
Quin: Yes, I'm fine.
Someone calling out: Law Sir!!
Nam [turned overed]: Hi, Ho Sir, FONG Sir. [Quin turned around also]
Fong Hoi Lun [made a weird stare at Quin]: Law Sir!
Ho Sir: Nice to see you again! I'm sure you know this is my nephew!
Lun: Just call me ah Lun!
Nam: Hi!
Ho Sir: And might I ask who is this lovely lady next to you? [looking at
Quin]
[Before Nam could have answered, Lun interruped]
Lun: It's Ms. Mo! [Quin shakes hands with Ho Sir and then Lun]
[During the hand shake, Lun proposely turned over the front of his right
hand] [Quin quickly shuttle backwards and got a scared from the site of his
hand]
Lun: Kwan, long time no see! [everyone else including Fei, we're surprised
Lun knew Quin]
Quin (how does he know me? I don't remember him. His hand, why? Why is it
the same one from my dream, I don't understand?): I'm sorry! Have we every
met? I don't remember.
Lun: I'm surprised you forgot already.
[Quin was in silence, still thinking hard]
Gigi: Fong Sir, you sure have a big scar! Do you mind on telling us how
you got that?
Lun: Certainly not. A woman I loved most gave me it! But I won't blame
her. [slowly turns to look at Quin] [Quin was putting her hand on her fore
head the whole time]
[All 3, Fei, Nam and Chi San felt weird from Lun's purpose approach to Quin.
They we're in suspicious eyes!]
Nam: Quin. Are you ok?
Quin: My head really hurts.
May and Chin Chin, walking out from the bathroom....
Chin Chin [pointing]: Oh, they are over there.
May [looks up and saw what she feared most] : Fong Hoi Lun? [on her way
walking up to them] What is he doing here? Haven't he made Quin suffer
enough!? He's not going to hurt her this time.
Chin Chin: May, what are you talking about? [followed May up]
Lun [saw May coming toward them]: May, how have you been?
May [ignored him cause she saw Quin looking troubled. Walked over to Quin]:
Quin, Quin? Are you ok? What's wrong?
May [turned over to face Lun and gave him a angry stare]: What are you
doing here?
Chi San: May what's wrong?
May [pulled Lun]: Come over here. [They stopped by a wall]
May: Why are you here?
Lun: To get back what I didn't get.
May: Can't you see she already lost her memory, she doesn't remember you.
Please don't bother her again.
[They others were watching, wondering what May and Lun was doing.....]
May: This time I'm not going to let you.
Lun [made a laugh]: You? [shakes his head] Listen, I'm just getting back
what belongs to me and you can't stop me. [Lun walks back to the others]
Ho Sir: What are you two talking about over there?
Lun: Oh, nothing. Just reuniting. [May comes over]
May: Quin, how are you feeling? Why don't we go?
[Quin still thinking] [he took another look at Lun, the pic of the hand
kept on flashing back and forth in Quin's mind] (Go away) [Suddenly]
Lun: Kwan?
Fei: Kwan, Kwan? What's going on?
Nam: It's her asthma.
May: Where's your medicine? [picks her purse]
Fei [talking to himself]: Asthma? What asthma? How come I didn't know?
[to Quin] Are you ok?
May: Here, take this.
Nam: How do you feel?
Quin: Let's go home.
Nam: Ok. [May and Quin took a last glance at Lun] [Fei watched Quin
leaving in pain and he couldn't go over to take care of her]
At Fei's apt.....
Fei [sitting at the couch, thinking endlessly] (I really want to call to
see how's Kwan. I don't understand what's going on? Who is this Fong Sir?
Why does he seems so afraid by Quin? Especially May. Why does it seem like
only May knows what's going on. They are both hiding something. I don't
understand): I really don't understand.
Chin Chin [comes along]: Why are you talking to yourself? What don't you
understand?
Fei: Huh?? Oh, nothing.
Chin Chin: Are you worried about Quin? You still love her don't you?
Fei: Oh..... don't take it the wrong way. We are just friends.
Chin Chin [hesistating]: I don't know if I should tell you this?
Fei [curious]: What? Tell me what?
Chin Chin: When I came out with May from the bathroom, as soon as she saw
Fong Hoi Lun, her expression totally change. I clearly heard her say
something like.....What is he doing here? Haven't he hurt Quin enough? I
won't let you hurt her this time.
Fei [surprised and furious]: What? You knew that all along and it took you
so long to tell me. Do you know this is a big problem. [went crazy and
raised his voiced] He may be after Quin. Quin is in a very dangerous
situation. Why did you even hesistated to tell me? You are so selfish!
(these words are so fimilar. Oh, for a simliar reason, I yelled at Quin with
these words. I'm so sorry, I did)
Chin Chin: Fei, I'm sorry. I didn't know it was that big of a deal. I
can't believe you are yelling at me for her. You never yelled at me like
this before. [quickly made her way to her room]
[Fei was so frustrated, didn't know what to do, what to feel]
Tin and Marianne: Now that Lun has came out, who exactly is this Lun?
What does he have to do with Quin's nightmares? What is May going to do to
protect Quin? Especially what is Fei going to do now that he has some idea?
