Chapter 33

ALL ARRIVED AT THE CEMETRY...[The cops all started their investigation work...while Chi San is staring and has his hands on Tong Sum's tombstone...]
Fei: Chi San, can you take this?

Chi San[wiping his drop of tears away and looked up at Fei]: Yes, I will.

Fei[gives Chi San a pat on the shoulder.]: Hey guys, what have you found?

May: Something doesn't seem right. [still scanning the area.]

Gigi: I know, look at all the footsteps left behind that are made by red paint.

Korean [running up to them]: Hey, I found this empty can of red paint by the bush. [Korean, showing them an empty canned of paint in a bag. Oddly, Chi San saw something that caught his eyes. He kneed down and picked up something from the ground next to Tong Sum's grave, something that looks like a bracelet.]

Chi San: A bracelet?

May[turned around to look at it]: That, that looks somewhat fimilar. Let me see. [takes the bracelet off of Chi San's hand. Her eyes started to gloom as a sign of knowing this object.] It's Ah Man's bracelet. Why is it here?

Chi San[stunned]: Man? Think more clearly, are you sure?

May: Yes, I have seem her wear this bracelet since the first time I met her.

Gigi[stuttering]: Well, may..maybe, it's just a concidence that the person who did this owns the same bracelet as Man.

Fei: To know the answer, ask Man personally. But like May said, this picture doesn't seem too decent. This person seems to purposely leave behind all these evidences.

Chi San: And all these evidences seems to be all pointing fingers at Man.


IN THE HOSPITAL, AT MAN'S ROOM. [Quin knocks on the door.]
Man: Quin, you don't have to visit me so often in just one day.

Quin: No, I'm still worried. It's better if more people keep an eye on you.

Man: I'll be able to leave the hospital by tomorrow, less worries.

Quin: Ok, ok. [takes something out of her purse.] Here, I tried my best to find the exact one.

Man: Oh, you shouldn't have.

Quin: Let's just make this a good-luck charm thing after this incident since you told me you lost your original bracelet earlier.

Man: Yes, I wonder how. [feeling her risk.] It feels so empty now.

Quin: Not anymore, you have this one! [helps Man put on the new bracelet. Fei, Chi San and May entered the room.]

Fei: Kwan, you are here?!

Quin: Yes. [smiles] [Both May and Chi San showed a little hesitation in their faces.]

May[uploaded her courageness and took out the bracelet.]: Man,.....

Quin[interrupted]: Hey, Man isn't that your bracelet?

Man: Yes, where do you find it May?

Chi San: You mean you lost it?

Fei: Then what is the one on your risk now?

Quin[already can sense something is wrong about their questioning and behavior]: Oh, I just bought it today since I learned she lost her old one.

Chi San[couldn't believe his ears.]: Why? [he ran out of the room.]

Fei[saw that everyone is worried.]: Stay, I'll follow him. [Fei ran out to chase Chi San.]

Man[confused and shocked at Chi San's reactions]: May, can you tell me what's going right now? Why is Chi San acting so weird?

May: Man, today we found out that, that someone poured red paint all over Tong Sum's tombstone, similar to the way you got poured. We might have enough evidences to believe that....

Quin: That Ah Man has something to do with it?

Man: What? Why...I would never do such a thing to Tong Sum.

May: Calm down, I believe you, we believe you.

Man[upset]: No not everyone, Chi San doesn't seem to believe me.

Quin: No, maybe he is just shocked and confused like we all are.

May: Man, this might be a set up by your enemies. Can you name a few?

Man: Enemies? I really can't think of anyone.

Quin: Man isn't those overboard people with bad-temper. She most likely wouldn't get herself into these kind of troubles or misunderstandings.

May: Yes, but maybe you did but didn't noticed it yourself?

Man: I really can't remember any. [The three look at each other puzzledly.]


IN THE STREETS.....
Fei[calling after]: Chi San, Chi San. Stop running. [Finally reach up to Chi San. They stopped in front of a church.] Chi San. I will understand if you do not wish to talk now.

Chi San: Fei, why has it come to this? Why? I'm so lost. This second time, the second time I will have to investigate her. Why? [He then slowly headed to the church. Opening these doors made Tong Sum's face flickered by his mind. Then came Man's face. These two women's face continuously settled at his head.]



THE NEXT DAY, IN CHI SAN'S OFFICE....
June: Are you ok?

Chi San[FROWNING]:.....

June: I understand you are pretty upset now.

Chi San: No, not at all. I'm only troubled and lost.

June: Don't worry, Tong Sum wouldn't blame you at all.

Chi San:....

June: Do you believe it's done by Man Yuen Lan?

Chi San: I....... [his door is being knocked.] Come in.

Korean: San gor, Law Sir has something to announce. [Chi San and June came out.]

June: Chi San, I think I'll leave now since you got work to do. [Nam noticed June and suddenly stared at her.]

Nam: Have we ever met before? You look like an old friend. [saying this in a sharp tone.]

June[straightly answered]: No, not in my knowledge.

Chi San: Oh, I believe you two haven't been introduced yet. She is Leung Chong Lian, June, our medical examiner of this Police Department. And he is our head, Lieutenant(?) Law Duck Nam.

Nam[still eyeing June]: I guess I was wrong. [shook hands with June. June only smiled and left.]

Korean[whispering to David]: I can't believe Law Sir's tricks are so out-dated. [they both giggled.]

Nam: Ok, I call everyone here to tell you that I will be out starting next week. Hopefully my week off wouldn't cause too much commotions. In the mean time, Fei and Chi San will handle you savages without me. [jokes]

Gigi: Law Sir, are you going away?

Nam: Maybe, maybe not.

Korean: With your girlfriend? [May stared expressed a little jealous with it.]

Nam[noticed it]: Ah, definitely not. I'm not talking with you blood sucking gossipers anymore. [turned around and walked out.]



A FEW DAYS LATER....IN THE STREETS.....
May: What else do you need? [talking on the phone with grocery bags.]

Quin: Um, that's about it.

May: Sum Oiy's picked, right?

Quin: Yes.

May: Where's Man?

Quin: She in the bathroom. It's been awhile though. I'll go check up on her later. [paused] Um, can I ask you something?

May: This is about Man, isn't it?

Quin: Bingo.

May: Well, everyone, especially Chi San, is trying so very hard to find other evidence to knock out those previous heavy evidence against Man. She's not yet completely out of suspicious so she is still the highly suspect now. Don't worry, we all believe in her and she will get out of this mess.

Quin: Hopefully. But holding her passport isn't a good sign of relieve.

May: Quin, it's normal procedure. That does not represent all. The thing is that, in the stand point of an officer, I have to say her testimony still has alot of areas for more accusing. As her friend, she has my total trust.

Quin: Yes, we all do. Okay....oh wait, Man is coming out.

Man[walking out of the bathroom]: Quin, is that May on the phone?

Quin: Yes.

Man: Let me speak to her. [Quin hands the phone to Man.] May, where are you now?

May: In Temple street.

Man: Oh, doesn't matter. Help me buy the Dove body wash, I just used it all.

May: Sure, is that all?

Man: Yeah.

May: Ok, I'm close to walking toward a pharma...... [Suddenly, struggling noises came out of May. May's phone and groceries are on the floor.]

Man[on the other line.]: Hello? May? May? What's going on? May? Hello?........


Tin talk: What has happened? Is May in trouble? If so, who is doing this to her? Do you think Man is guilty? Yes or No? If not, who is the next person that comes to your mind? (this is a tough question!) Does June really know Nam? Is she pretending that she doesn't or it is all Nam's illusion? Does Chi San believe Ah Man or not? Please standby...... Oh, and I'll try to have 34 by the end of this week or even earlier! Chow!
