Preview: Last chapter, a boy's body was found near the garbage dump. May
recognized the boy, so she and Chi San went to "Ka Bik orphanage" to gather
info. When asked about this dead boy, the sister there said, he's inside....
Chapter 9
May and Chi San followed the Sister inside to see the little kid.
Sister : Kwok Chi Wah come over here.
Chi Wah was sitting alone by the corner of the steps, partically in another
world. He didn't even hear the sister call him.
Sister (talking to chi san and may) : Is this the boy that you are looking
for?
May (confused) : Yes, but he is supposed to be dead.
Sister expressed a confused look.
Sister: I don't understand, he has been here for years.
They all walked up the Chi Wah..
Chi Wah was gone away daydreaming. Chi San decided to pat him on the
shoulder to call him. Chi Wah then gave a big reaction and swing his arm(in
a don't touch me way) at Chi San and shuffled back. He seems very scared and
alert at everything.
Sister: Now, do you see what I mean.
Chi San : (takes out the picture of the dead boy) Chi Wah, can u recognize
if this is a picture of you?
Chi Wah stared and didn't make a peep.
May: Hi, Chi Wah. Do you remember me? Don't worry, no one is going to hurt
you. Just answer a few questions for us.
Chi Wah looked at the picture: NO, it's not me. (thinks) Where did you get
this picture? What happened?
May: Are you sure it's not you? A boy that looks exactly like you is not
here anymore.
Chi Wah uncalmly: I don't know, don't bother me. Go away!
Chi Wah ran to his room...
May: He seems very scared about something. There is something wrong about
him. A 10 year old is not supposed to act like that.
Chi San: Yes, I can tell he's hiding something but he's not an open kid,
it's hard to work with him.
May: Ok, now we know that the boy I was refering to was him not the dead
one. One thing I want to make clear is, I heard that he was going to be
adopted for foster care but why is he still here?
Sister: Yes, he was but after the last time, Ah Man, our new worker, brought
him outside for a walk, when he came back, we all realized that his seems
alittle weird. His behavior was stranged to us and even starting to be
scary. The foster parents saw this and decided not to take him anymore. I
really don't get why he is like this every since.
Chi San: Ah man?
May: Yes, she is Quin's friend, she works her now. Sister, do you know
where she is now?
Sister: She is off today, so I guess you have to come back anther time.
May looking at Chi San: It's ok, I can find her at Quin's place.
Chi San was in silence and then proposely change the subject on Man.
Chi San: Can this be a twin case?
May: Well, that is the only reasonable answer to explain what is happening.
Chi San asking the Sister : do you ever recall him having a twin?
Sister : no.. Chi Wah was picked up by one of our volunteer on the streets
one day. i remember that he was a infant and all alone. it was too sad for us
to throw him back into the streets so we took him in. And he was wearing a
necklace with his name on it.
Chi San : do you remember who the volunteer was?
Sister : yes, her name is Chan Wing Yee. May, do u remember who she is?
May : the name sound familiar.
Chi San : is she working today?
Sister : you came at a bad time. she just immigrated to the U.S. last week
Chi San : Is there any form of way that we can reach her?
Sister : she sent me a card when she arrived in the US telling me how it
was. I'll find the address for you.
May : thanks
The team is gathered together in the Conference Room
Gigi : how is it possible that two child will look exactly alike?
Chi san : twins ... remember what happened to my sister's case??
Fei : But i don't understand how and why they are separated
Korean : do you think that we should do a dna scan on Chi Wah and the dead
boy, i mean, to use as evidence that they are really brothers?
Nam : we can do that, but first we have to . . .
Someone knocks on the doors.
Nam : come in.
A madam walks in.
Madam : Law Sir, there is a couple waiting in the lobby to identify the body
that was found today.
Nam : thank you.
madam walks out.
Nam: Fei and Chi San will handle the parents. The rest of you try to reach
Chan Wing Yee in America.
the team : yes sir.
Fei and Chi San brought Mr. and Mrs. Chung to identify the body. all four
entered the cold room. Chi San signals the doctors to take the cover off the
dead corpse.
Mrs. Chung crying hysterically: o my, Bo Wah, don't leave mommy behind.
please no . . . please. come back to mommy. mommy promise to bring you to
ocean park (hoy wan goong yun). who did this to you? tell mommy . . . the
person who did this is so cruel. (teen mo ain -sky don't have eyes )
Mr. Chung : (yelling at Chi San and Fei, pointing at chi san) let me tell
you, i've been paying my taxes all these years, you cops better find out who
killed my son or else you'll be hearing from me and my lawyer.
Fei was annoyed at this man's word and turned his head and looked the other
way.
Chi San : don't worry, we'll definitely find the killer for you.. it's our
duty.
Chi San and Fei went to brought mr. and mrs. chung into the questioning
room
Chi San with the recorder: so when was the last time you saw your child
alive?
Mrs. Chung : i'm not sure, we were having a pleasant dinner around 9 pm,
and i guess that Bo Wah went outside to play. after that, im not sure if he
came home or not.
Fei : how could you not know when your child is gone. what kind of a parent
are you?
Mr. Chung : i don't want you talking to my wife like that.
Chi San : i apologize. Tsui Sir didn't mean it like that. He just wanted to
why you would let a little kid run around so late at night.
Ms. Chung: I don't know, it's my maid who takes care of my the twin.
Chi San : twin??? you mean Bo Wah has a twin brother?
Ms. Chung: yes, the other one is Kin Wah. He is at home, I don't want to
scare him by letting him see his own brother's dead body.
Chi San mumbling to himself: Chi Wah, Bo Wah and now Kin Wah???
Chi San : Oh, ok, I understand.. but is it okay if we go by your house
tomorrow to question dee on and the maid?
Mr. Chung (shouting): NO we do not want the cops to disturb our little boy?
he don't know what happen and I don't want him to know yet, he's too little
to handle this situation.
Fei: if you want us to find the killer, I highly recommend that you
cooperate with us.
Mr. Chung (thinking and hestitaing a little) : fine, but just a warning, my
lawyer will also be there, and if you even try to go overboard, i'll have to
let you know, you'll be hearing from me and it won't be nice.
Chi San : don't worry, we'll know what to do.
Fei (leading the parents towards the door): I hope that you'll understand
that it's very important that we get your cooperation. Thanks for your time.
After work, Chi San went to visit Tong Sum... As he is walking up to her
tombstone, he saw a woman leaving the other way. He finally walked up to
Tong Sum. He saw flowers and guessing it most have been that women. He was
surprised not knowing that friend of Tong Sum but he left the thought and
knee over to wipe Tong Sum's picture.
Chi San putting down his flowers: Sorry, Tong Sum for not visiting you for
the past 2 weeks. It's is very busy at the station. Do you know what, today
I experience something cute that reminds me of you. May, from our team, who
always play cool suddenly showed a sweet and lovable side with children which
reminded me of you when you are with children. Anyway, did I tell you Man
came back for a while already?! She is living at Quin's.
Chi San continued to talk for a while and then sat down on the ground and
played his recorder...
At Quin's house. Sum Oiy is playing in front of the tv, where the news is
being broadcasted. Quin is cooking dinner in the kitchen.
news reporter: a little boy was found dead at a nearby garbage dump in Wong
Kwok, today. The reason for death is known to be as beaten to death with
over 30 bruises. Up till now, the police have found no witnesses or clues
as to the scene of the crime . . . if you have any new information about his
boy please call us at (screen has the dead boy's photo) . . .
Sum Oiy (screaming): MOMMY . . .
Quin rushes out of the kitchen thinking something happened to her
Quin : what? what happened?
Sum Oiy : mommy, this is the boy (gor gor) that I spoke to last time and he
was crying. what's wrong? what happened to him ?
Quin (staring at the television) : the gor gor won an award today at school.
sum oiy, what did he say last time when you saw him?
Sum Oiy: he was crying and saying that he's not living a happy life. he
said that he really want parents that will really care for him and... ... and
then you and aunty may came over and he ran off
Man (came home) : hi, what are you guy's watching?
Quin : sum oiy, can you go into the kitchen and see if the water in the
teapot is going beep beep (she has one of those teapots that makes noise when
it's boiling).
sum oiy runs off.
Man : what happened? it seemed like you purposely told sum oiy to leave the
room.
Quin (quickly telling man what happened before sum oiy gets back) : i did. i
didn't want her to hear this. sum oiy said that she was talking to this kid
that was found dead today
Man : oh my, does she know that?
Quin : no she doesn't. i'm afraid that it will scare her that's why i didn't
tell her
Man : what are you going to do?
Quin : i don't know if i should bring her in to the stations to put down a
testimony (lok how goong). But she may be important to the case.
Man : you have to bring her to Fei and tell them what she heard. this may
help the little boy's parents find the killer. or at least let the police
know what situation the little boy was under
Quin doesn't speak
Man (realizing that she mentioned Fei) : umm . . . you can bring her to May,
since sum oiy knows who she is
Sum oiy (running out of the kitchen) : mommy mommy, the teapot is going beep
beep
Quin (to Man) : Ok, i know what to do.(to sum oiy) really, then we have to
close the fire. did you call Man che che?
Sum Oiy : man che che
Man : good girl
Man looks at Quin and she turns away . . .
Next day the the station, May brings Sum Oiy to work... Nam sees them and
walks up...
Nam patting Sum Oiy: May, what is Sum Oiy doing here?
May: Law Sir, I believe she is a witness to our case.....
