Chapter 24

AT THE HEADQUARTERS...

[Everyone showed extreme shockness..]
May: Guys, you don't have to give me this reaction. Yes, I was his victim. [began to walk] I don't feel uncomfortable having to tell anyone now. Many years ago, when I was still in England, Vincent was my boyfriend. We were quite happy together until what has happened. Truthly I never could have told he would do such a thing to me or anyone. Yes, even tho we were both drunk, he still raped him. Back then I didn't press charges on him because I wasn't over it yet and didn't want to face the pressure and embarrassment I know I will get during the trial. That was the last time I saw him ever again until a few days ago. I swear I will get him this time. [sat on her seat]

[Everyone was wordless for a moment.]

Gigi: I'm sorry you had to go thru all that.

May: Don't be. The best thing to do is to get this guy.

Chi San: For May's sake, for the dead victim, we can't let this guy go.

[everyone agreed]

Korean: Should we escort him here for questioning?

Nam: Maybe now is not the right time yet. Don't want to "Dah Cho Ging Seh".

David: But we have followed his every move for days. He is now becoming more alert. He may already now something.

Nam: Ok, then I guess go get him. Maybe we can make him talk.


HALF AN HOUR LATER...IN THE QUESTIONING ROOM....
[May and Nam was watching thru the glass, while Chi San and Korean did the questioning.]

Chi San: Mr. Cheng, I'm sure you know why you are here. We have questions involving your student, Fannie Wan to ask you.

Vincent: Ok, I will be glad to associate if I can.

Korean [murmured w/an attitude]: Quit faking it. [Chi San hinted him to stop w/his attitude]

Vincent: So you are hinting, I may be concerned with her death?

Korean: Obviously. You have once been charged for raping anyway.

Vincent: What, you guys have went thru my whole background? I don't believe this, you're actually suspecting me. If you had known, the charges had been dropped.

Korean: So what. Admit it, you did do the crime. Just because the victim backed out and there were no witnesses doesn't mean you are not guilty. You just weren't rightfully punished by law.

Vincent: I don't want to talk about this anymore. You can't do anything about it now. I was never sentenced anyway and it can't prove I may highly be apart of this case. [Korean got up..suddenly the glass behind them banged.]

Chi San: Korean! [Pushed him down] Let's get back. How close of a relationship are you with Fannie?

Vincent: Relation? You might have misunderstood something. There's nothing between us beside a teacher and student relationship.

Chi San: Ok. Then how can you describe Fannie's attitude in school.

Vincent: Well, she's a pretty smart student. But her grades have been falling since last semester. She use to show eagerness to learn but it clearly differs ever since. Let's just say she shifted to the wild side.

Korean: What are you talking about? Her mother say she is a very good girl.

Vincent: Com'on, what mom won't say their daughter is good. Most won't face the fact. Besides, their daughter might not have told her everything. You can go ask her classmates again.

Chi San: Then do you notice any suspectful guys around her?

Vincent: Umm, well I don't really pay that much attention to her, so I really can't say.

Chi San: [Got up]Ok, Mr. Cheng. Thanks for you corporation. [Walked and opened the door] If we have anything else needing [interupted]

Vincent [Outside]: Don't worry, I'll be glad if I can assist you thru out this case. [Korean made faces at him] [May came out of the other room]

[May stared at him as she passed by and walked away.]

Vincent [shocked]: May Ming?

Korean: Let's go...why you wanna say here?



AT NIGHT...QUIN'S APT....

Man: What, that guy has to do with this case too?

Quin: Are you sure?

May: Quin, he raped me. And there's a possiblity that he raped and killed that girl too.

Quin: Wait, is it because he once raped you, which made you now have negative feelings toward him now?

May: Yes and no. [paused] Ok, totally Yes! I know it's most likely him. [paused again] Hey, why do you sound like you are defending him??

Quin: Hello, it's my nature to ask all these awkward questions.

May: Ok.

Quin: Just listen to me, do the right thing. Not what you think or believe.

May: Ok, ok. Like I said, I won't mix personal feelings.

Quin: Yes, I trust you won't.


FEW DAYS LATER..... TENNIS COURT, IN 'TSIM SHA TSUI'.....
[Chi San and Fei were playing against each other...Chin Chin was sitting next to the umbrella table. After a few games, Chi San couldn't take it anymore... Fei walked up to him.]

Fei: Today isn't your day isn't it?

Chi San [Still breathing hard]: Oh be quiet. We beat you so badly last time. You two were busy hitting each other instead of the ball! [Realized he said the wrong thing]

[Fei tilt his head down]

Chi San: Com'on don't be like this, Chin Chin's here.

Fei: Did you, did you call her for me?

Chi San: Yes. She answered me with a maybe. So don't get your hopes too high. If she comes, she'll probably bring Sum Oiy along.

Fei: I hope so. I want Sum Oiy to know the truth, know that she does have a father. [Chi San smiled back]

Chin Chin [called from afar]: Fei, Chi San, do you guys need water?

[Fei and Chi San ran up and got a hold of a bottle of water.]

Chin Chin: Hey Fei, you're sweating so hard, you didn't bring a towel?

Fei: Oh yeah, I forgot.

Suddenly a voice from behind: I have, you want? [They turned around and looked down, it was Sum Oiy!]

Fei [kneeled down and smiled]: Hey, Sum Oiy! Are you really going to give it to me?

Sum Oiy: I don't know yet, ask Mommy first. [turns around and points]

[Quin, May, Man and Nam all appear coming up to them.] [They all greeted each other]

[Fei saw Quin and slightly turned his head away and began wandering off]

Quin: Hey, I know I said I didn't want to have anything to do w/you but since I have decided to come, I'm ok now.

Fei [made a rough smile]: Thank you.

Quin: Now do you want that towel or not?

Fei: Yeah sure.

Quin: But only under one condition. Exchange for a bottle of water first. [Before Fei could have replied, another voice bud in...]

Stanley: I got plenty here.

Quin [surprised]: Stanley, what a pleasant surprise. You really startled me! [forcing a smile] [Sum Oiy ran up to Stanley, so he lifted her up...]

Stanley: Hey, Sum Oiy student {Sum Oiy tong halk], are you a good girl today?

Sum Oiy: Yes, Teacher Leung {Leung Lo See}.

Man [quietly mubbled to Quin]: Oh, so he's that Stanley. [Quin shook his head]

Stanley: Oh, that's good. [puts her down] She's so cute.

Quin: Yeah, I know.

Stanley: Aren't you going to introduce me to all you friends here?

Quin: Do I have...or sure. Everyone, this is Stanley Leung, Sum Oiy's teacher. This is Fei, Chi San, Chin Chin...etc. And this is May.

Stanley [stared at May for a while]: May. Hi, nice to meet you and have we meet before?

May: Umm, I doubt it.

Stanley: Ok. Well, I'm meeting my friend on the other side. So, I'll see you all later. Bye.

Everyone: Bye. [walked away]

May: What was that all about?

Quin: I know right, he only talked to you out of everyone. Hey, that might mean something.

May: Oh shut up, Quin. I don't believe this guy will give up on you so quickly or will he?

Quin: I'll thank god if he does. [Everyone laughed]

[Fei made a glance at Sum Oiy and then Quin. He was hinting to Quin]

Quin: Oh right. The main point of today.

Nam: Oh, I think I'll go play against someone.

May: How about me!

Man: Wait don't forget about me.

Chi San: We can double. [All ran off to play..leaving Fei, Quin and Sum Oiy...while Chin Chin watches]

Quin: Even tho we are not together, I still want to be fair to Sum Oiy and even you.

Fei: Thank you. I never knew how this moment will be.

Sum Oiy: Mommy, I want to sit.

Quin: Ok, before you sit, I want to tell you something. [Fei got alittle excited]

Sum Oiy: Yes, Mommy.

Quin [kneels down]: You know, you asked Mommy about your father? [Sum Oiy shook his head] Well, your father is Uncle Fei. [Fei smiled]

Sum Oiy: Fei shuk shuk? Uncle Fei can't be my father, he is my Uncle.

Quin: Yes, but before his was your uncle, he is your father. I thought you wanted a father.

Sum Oiy: No, Uncle Fei is Uncle Fei. Not my father.

Quin: Sum Oiy, listen to Mommy. Did mommy ever lied to you? He is your father.

Sum Oiy: No, no. I don't understand. Then how come I never saw him before in NY?

Quin: Sum Oiy

Sum Oiy: No, I'm not listening. Uncle Fei is Uncle Fei. Can't not be my father. [Fei felt so bad] I'm going to sit now. [ran off]

Quin [got up]: Fei, I'm sorry. She needs time to accept you. I don't want to push her. I can feel what's going in her mind.

Fei: It's ok. You don't have to say sorry. Actually I should be the one saying sorry. I owed you two so much.

Quin: No, just keep in mind, you owe Chin Chin, not me. On Sum Oiy, the process with take longer but are you willing...

Fei [quickly replied]: Yes, definitely. [smiled]

Quin [shouted]: Hey, I wanna play too. You guys have to be easy on me and you know why.

Man: Ahh, you can play. Take my place. I can't take it anymore.

Chi San: Yeah, me too. Twice in a role.

Fei: Want to pair with me?

Quin: Why not? But let's concentrate this time. No more hitting me.

Fei [laughs]: Ok, that goes for you too.

Nam: Stop the chit chatting. I feel hot today. Dare you two to take the challenge.

Quin: Ok, let's knock him down crazy.

Fei: Right on. [They played for a while]

Quin: Darn. It doesn't count. If it wasn't for my hand.

Nam: No body told you not to fix it. It's not like a fatal disease or anything like that.

Fei: What?

May: Yeah, don't even know why this girl is so stubborn. She just have to undergo an easy surgery.

Quin: Ok, I'll think about it.

May: Admit it, you both lost, lost to us! [Nam and May gave each other a high five!]

Quin: Look at them. Don't make us go over there. [Chin Chin is just sitting there, who knows what she has in mind..what's she thinking..]


AFTER 2 HOURS....

Man: Oh, I'm so tired today. But it was a good game.

Nam: It's about time. Let's go now.

Chi San: Anyone crave for Mexican today?

Quin: Yeah that sounds good. I think Sum Oiy is getting tired and hungry.

May: Look at her, she's sleeping already.

Fei: Let me lift her to the car.

Quin: Yeah, go for it. [smiled] [Fei walks over to the table] I guess, politely, I still have to say bye to Stanley.

Man: Ok, We'll wait for you here. [Quin walks off]

Fei: Chin CHin, can you give me a hand.

Chin Chin [got up]: Sure. [Fei went off with Sum Oiy...Chin Chin stood and watched for a while. She feels bad that Fei is so caring for Sum Oiy.]

ON THE OTHER SIDE...

[Quin was about to enter their field but stop because she heard talking...]

Vincent: No, don't do it to her again. Don't do it to anyone.

Stanley: What if I want to. You can't stop me. You couldn't even stop me before, what makes you can now?

Vincent: Why do you have to be like this?

Stanley: Cool down, I'm not after her anymore. I have another target.

[Quin was shocked. She doesn't understand what they are talking about but she might have the right idea.]


Tin and Marianne: So what are they talking about now? Did Quin hear something she is not suppose to? Does it have anything to do with her? Is this another side of that Stanley? Why does Vincent sound so innocent? What is going to happen next? Why doesn't Quin want to fix her left arm? Does the name Fei, ring any bell! Will Sum Oiy finally accept Fei? When will that be? May sound so positive that it's Vincent...what if it's not him? Stay tune....
